Midterm Test
Attention students and parents: The grade 11 midterm test is this Thursday, May 9th, 2013. Students were provided with an outline and review on Monday.
This midterm will cover material from Frankenstein and our Edgar Allen Poe short story unit. Because this material is being tested now, it will not be tested again on the Final Exam.
While this test offers you a lot of choice between questions to demonstrate your knowledge it is imperative that you study the material thoroughly so that you are prepared to answer the questions in an articulate and thorough way for full marks.
Here is a list of the short stories and short narrative poems we have studied that will be covered on the test:
*** Point of clarification: Part C: Long answer question - you will have to compare TWO short stories for whichever question you choose to do, NOT a short story and Frankenstein.

Have you seen the new show The Following?
It's all about a serial killer who is inspired by the stories of Edgar Allan Poe.
Pretty creepy, and apparently quite good. Thoughts?

Please read "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe for Wednesday May 1st.
It is a longer short story, but please read it and use the Sparknotes handout I gave you in class to help you understand how to analyze what is going on in the story and how it exemplifies Poe's style.
